We cannot cause them to fail.FULL JOB DESCRIPTION:By joining the CSI Specialty Engineering team you’ll have the opportunity to design, develop and test/analyze product capabilities for a wide area of developmental equipment as well as existing solutions that are repackaged to meet the rugged environment in which our equipment is expected to operate. Our engineers develop and support custom systems at the board, middleware and complete system levels. Our hardware designs range from simple microcontroller-based peripherals to complex secure and rugged processing and type accredited networked systems. CSI engineers work as a multidisciplinary team in order to optimize system design and analysis throughout the product lifecycle.As part of a multidisciplinary team the CSI Senior Human Factors engineer will be engaged in all aspects of a program from bidding to delivery. It is also critical that the candidate exhibit strong communication skills and a desire to engage other engineers to both teach and learn. Candidates should be able to present compound problems to a broad audience that may not possess subject matter expertise or be intimately familiar with what Human Factors encompasses.Human Factors engineers must apply their technical skills within the systems engineering framework and operating from a wholistic view of the programs they executeHuman Factors engineers are responsible for developing, deriving, understanding, and assigning Human Factors requirements for all phasing of every programHuman Factors engineers must be adept at writing guides, developing analyses, and modeling to address requirements at the component, subsystem, and system levelHuman Factors engineers design, prepare, and review in a format consistent with US Military DIDs (e.g. Human Engineering Test Plan/Report, Human Engineering Program Plans, Human Engineering Design Approach Documents) and interact at the program level during multidisciplinary design reviews (internal and external)Human Factor engineers are responsible for:Design and development of human-to-system interfacesPerforming human error analysis by identifying sources of human error and defining actions to mitigate sources of human error through designConducting Human-in-the-Loop (HITL) testingConducting surveys/interviews, heuristic evaluation, cognitive walkthroughs, and usability testing of Human Machine Interfaces (HMI)Providing verification planning and execution of usability studies, task analyses, predictive workload analyses, anthropometry, situational awareness surveys, range of motion, strength, etc.Development of training materials and execution of training and testingDesigning and documentation of GUI to meet goals and system requirements while applying human factors principalsDeveloping highly intuitive and usable user focused interfaceEvaluation of crew stations, displays, controls, control panels, and seating for adherence to human factors principalsDeveloping digital products using one or more industry standard design and prototyping tools to create wireframes, visual designs, and interactive prototypesThe Senior Human Factor engineer is responsible for driving best practices from a Human Factors perspective for all of CSI and as such is expected to actively engage in training and mentoring of engineers that are less experienced in the arena of Human FactorsMinimum Qualifications:BS in human factors, industrial engineering, human centered design, or closely related technical discipline and 10 years of experience OR a MS and 8 years of experienceDOD Secret clearance or higher (with a background investigation completed within 6 years of currently enrolled CE)5 years of experience with human-centered design principles, task analysis, human error analysis, and HITL testingExtensive experience with MIL-STD-1472Experience with visual design (e.g. typography, symbology, layout) and User Experience/User Interface (UX/UI) development methodsExperience with CAD tools (Inventor preferred)Comfortable with fast pace and dynamic product development environmentsPreferred Qualifications:Experience with DoD/aerospace practices, and programmatic experience with BOE, RFP, ROMThe ideal candidate will be able to determine and execute the right evaluation method (quantitative or qualitative) for the question at handExperience with MIL-STD-411, MIL-STD-1787, MIL-STD-3009, and/or MIL-STD-4685Board Certified Ergonomist or HIS ProfessionalA wide breadth of experience in various aircraft systemsExperience in system modeling tools (Cameo or similar MBSE tool)Job Type: Full-timePay: From $110,000.00 per yearBenefits:401(k)401(k) matchingDental insuranceEmployee assistance programFlexible scheduleFlexible spending accountHealth insuranceHealth savings accountLife insurancePaid time offParental leaveProfessional development assistanceReferral programRetirement planTuition reimbursementVision insuranceSchedule:8 hour shiftMonday to FridayApplication Question(s):This job requires obtaining and maintaining a US security clearance.
