Project Overview & Job Descriptions

This position is for a Systems / Human Factors Engineer. The successful candidate must have strong organizational and teamwork skills, proven problem‑solving abilities, a can‑do attitude, and a desire to innovate designs. You will specifically support the Mobile Launcher 2 (ML2) project, the design and construction of a launch platform for NASA’s Space Launch System (SLS) at Kennedy Space Center (KSC). The ML2 platform must accommodate multiple subsystems, fit within strict structural constraints, and interface with KSC ground systems. You will interface and coordinate with other engineering disciplines and the client during design development.

Eligibility

U.S. citizenship is required; proof must be provided. All employees are subject to random drug and alcohol testing and must be able to obtain a security clearance, as applicable. An Engineer‑In‑Training (EIT) license must be obtained within 12 months of hire. All applicants must pass a pre‑employment drug screen and background check.

Responsibilities

  • Establish means of verifying requirement implementation, including acceptance criteria.
  • Prepare system and facility design criteria documents.
  • Develop Human Factors requirements.
  • Review design products for implementation of Human Factors principles.
  • Support system‑level design verification, requirement verification, test requirement specification, and requirement flow‑down and traceability.
  • Perform impact analyses for proposed requirement changes.
  • Perform assessments to validate and verify implementation and traceability of requirements into design.
  • Participate in technical discussions to resolve system design issues.
  • Research and document system operations and limits from the review of design and basis documents and from discussions with system designers.
  • Demonstrate leadership qualities with an emphasis on continuous improvement, team building, and interpersonal communication skills.

Job Knowledge

  • Knowledge of industry/regulatory codes and standards, and design criteria pertinent to systems engineering and human factors.

Basic Qualifications

  • Level 1: Bachelor’s Degree in Systems Engineering or another engineering field from an accredited university or college with at least 6 years of relevant technical experience, or 12+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Level 2: Bachelor’s Degree in Systems Engineering or another engineering field from an accredited university or college with at least 9 years of relevant technical experience, or 15+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status.
  • Engineer‑In‑Training (EIT) license within 12 months of hire.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearances.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Awareness of national codes and standards, environmental regulations, and their influence on design.
  • Experience facilitating multi‑discipline meetings to resolve technical and related requirements compliance issues.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Completion of a preemployment drug screen and background check.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with implementation of requirements in design.
  • Experience performing design and/or requirements change impact analysis.
  • Experience with MIL‑STD 1472G DOD Design Criteria Standard – Human Engineering.
  • Experience with HF‑STD‑001 FAA Human Factors Design Standard.
