UX Researcher (Mobile App)

Contract to hire - role will start remote then be hybrid

Summary

We are looking for a

User Researcher

with a passion for the outdoors—ideally an angler—to help shape the future of a mobile app designed for the American fishing and outdoor community. The ideal candidate combines

deep empathy for outdoor users

with strong research, facilitation, and analysis skills to ensure that the product reflects the needs, behaviors, and values of the fishing community.

Responsibilities

Conduct

user research, interviews, surveys, and discovery workshops

to uncover user needs and behaviors. Lead

ideation and usability workshops

with product managers, designers, and engineers. Analyze

qualitative insights

and light

quantitative data

, translating findings into actionable recommendations. Partner closely with PMs, designers, and analysts to align product strategy with user needs. Use research tools including

Lookback (interviews), Telltale (storage), Typeform (surveys), and Figma/FigJam (collaboration)

. Develop and refine

research methodologies

to improve efficiency and impact. Support

prototype testing and usability evaluations

to validate product design decisions. Act as the voice of the user within the product team, ensuring that the app resonates with the American angler and outdoor community.

Qualifications

Professional or

deep personal outdoor experience

, ideally in fishing/angling. Based in the

United States

, with ability to start workdays at

7 am EST and end at 4pm est Proven experience in

user research

and facilitating

discovery/ideation workshops

. Skilled interviewer with the ability to analyze insights with clarity and neutrality. Comfortable with

survey creation

and interpreting basic analytics (charts, percentages). Proficient with

Figma, FigJam, and remote research tools

. Strong communicator who can bring

rigor and structure

to fast-moving environments. Ability to empathize deeply with the fishing and outdoor community.

Contract Talent The salary range for this position is 50/hr to 55/hr. Benefits available to contract/temporary professionals, include medical, vision, dental, and life and disability insurance.
