CNN Digital is driven by a shared commitment to put our users at the center of the experiences we build and to push the boundaries of what an exceptional digital experience can be.The Director, User Experience Research, will lead and scale a world-class research team, collaborating with design, product, engineering, editorial, and analytics teams to explore insights about users through various methods such as surveys, interviews, data analysis, usability studies, diary studies, ethnographic observation, and emerging techniques.Your Role Accountabilities…Build and scale a research team, overseeing UXR strategy and capabilities across CNN’s Engagement, Growth, and Revenue teams.Develop research plans in partnership with product designers, leaders, and stakeholders, selecting appropriate methods (qualitative, quantitative, mixed) to inform research needs.Conduct research that provides insights to inform product decisions, prioritizing features and enhancements that increase user engagement, conversion, and retention.Communicate findings from analytics, surveys, user behavior, and other data sources to craft actionable, unbiased recommendations.Establish strong relationships with product teams to understand business needs and inform research strategies accordingly.Collaborate with the broader Research & Analytics team to align resources and methodologies with strategic initiatives.Qualifications & Experience…10+ years of experience leading, building, and scaling UXR teams.D2C experience researching touchpoints in acquisition and conversion funnels.Experience working with cross-functional teams in product development support.Excellent communication skills, capable of delivering complex messages to diverse audiences, including executives.Proficiency with usability and statistical research software.Strong problem-solving skills and natural curiosity.Bachelor's degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Information Science, Psychology, Social Sciences, or equivalent experience.Experience or interest in digital news organizations is a plus.How We Get Things Done…Our guiding principles are central to our operations.
