Uber Freight is seeking a UX Researcher to support the Product and Design teams on Uber Freight applications and services. Uber Freight acts as a strategic logistics partner that manages and optimizes a company's entire supply chain. It leverages technology and a vast carrier network to handle all aspects of logistics, from planning to execution. What the Candidate Will Do

  • Identify knowledge gaps and define new research opportunities.
  • Design and conduct generative and evaluative user research using qualitative (field observations, remote and in-person usability studies and interviews) and quantitative methods (surveys).
  • Act as a thought leader in the domain of research and collaborate closely with other researchers and cross-functional team members including designers, product managers, data scientists, operations, and engineers.
  • Synthesize and communicate research findings to shape designs and inform product roadmap.
  • Facilitate stakeholder or user interviews, innovation brainstorms, and synthesis workshops to improve design quality, product decisions, and speed of execution.
  • Construct and launch surveys deployed at scale and analyzed with cross-tabulation or other methodologies.
  • Contribute to team operations, including establishing best practices and documentation for conducting high-quality user research.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of UX research experience OR Masters or PhD degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Psychology, Cognitive Science, Sociology, or related field.
  • Bachelor's degree in HCI ( Human-Computer Interaction), Human Factors, Psychology, Cognitive Science, Sociology, or related field.
  • Ability to showcase examples of conducting innovative, multi-method research studies that improve the quality of existing and new products.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Work experience coordinating multiple fast-moving projects of varying levels of complexity concurrently; working across diverse domains.
  • Ability to work though ambiguous environments and the unknown future of the industry, turning unknown unknowns into actionable recommendations for product and design teams.
  • Process and efficiency whiz - has a passion for planning, tracking, organizing logistics, and documentation.
  • Strong stakeholder management and collaborative abilities; communicates early and often and is able to take shifting priorities and timelines in stride and manage change effectively.
  • Proficient storytelling and narrative skills, using evidence and data in compelling ways to persuade key stakeholders and ultimately product direction.
  • Experience conducting statistical analysis of large scale survey data and evaluative benchmarking usability studies.
  • Previous experience identifying, onboarding, and leading external research, translation, transcription, and tools vendors.
  • Ability to create industry-leading deliverables that are deeply impactful yet easy to consume.
