Entry Level UX Research Apprenticeship (Remote)

Position Overview

Every year, we sponsor 2 UX apprentices for a 7‑month program offered in either the fall or spring. Apprentices work through the end‑to‑end UX design and research process on a startup idea of their choice. In addition to 1:1 mentorship throughout the program, apprentices receive UX career coaching support for up to 3 months after completion. Our mission is to help women, immigrants, and POC break into tech and land 6‑figure UX jobs. In fact, alumni have gone on to earn between $85,000 and $130,000 in UX design, product design, UX research, or service design roles.

Key Responsibilities

• Build digital products and services from 0 to 1.
• Lead end‑to‑end design process for a startup idea or topic of choice.
• Manage product and feature scoping along with overall project management.
• Identify target markets and position products for launch success.
• Develop scalable business models for products or services.
• Conduct discovery research including user recruitment, research planning, and synthesizing interview insights.
• Deliver compelling UX design and business pitches supported by qualitative and quantitative data.
• Craft user stories using personas, stakeholder maps, journey maps, and other visual deliverables.
• Lead user testing to refine wireframes and prototypes continuously.
• Design a unique design system from scratch including components, style guides, and branding.
• Analyze competitors to clearly communicate your solution’s differentiators.

Required Qualifications

• Interest in UX career paths including UX research, UX design, product design, or service design.
• Commitment to dedicate 5-10 hours per week to complete program deliverables.
• Availability for 2-3 hour weekend lectures to learn the end-to-end design process.
• Willingness to accept feedback from UX mentors and revise design work accordingly.
